CZ: Jan Michal vystudoval podnikohospodářskou fakultu VŠE a mezinárodní vztahy na Fakultě sociálních věd UK v Praze. Do čela agentury CzechInvest byl jmenován v dubnu 2024, kam přišel z Evropské komise (EK), kde působil v jejím Generálním sekretariátu a následně jako zástupce ředitele sekce na Generálním ředitelství pro komunikaci, kde vedl Odbor politického a ekonomického zpravodajství z členských států EU. Během českého předsednictví Rady EU v roce 2022 působil jako poradce na Úřadu vlády, kde se věnoval přípravě jednání Evropské rady a energetické politice. V letech 2010-2016 vedl Zastoupení EK v ČR a během své mise se mj. podílel na přípravě doporučení pro hospodářskou politiku ČR nebo zapojení Česka do programu InvestEU a spolupráci s Evropskou investiční bankou. V roce 2016 mu prezident Hospodářské komory udělil Zlatou Merkurovu medaili za aktivní podporu podnikatelského prostředí v ČR. Předtím působil na Ministerstvu zahraničních věcí ČR, mj. v roli zástupce stálého představitele ČR při NATO v Bruselu, při Organizaci pro zákaz chemických zbraní v Haagu a na Stálé misi ČR při OSN v New Yorku. 

ENG: Jan Michal graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Economics and International Relations at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague. He was appointed head of CzechInvest in April 2024, where he worked in its General Secretariat and subsequently as Deputy Director of the Directorate-General for Communication, where he headed the Political and Economic Intelligence Unit for EU Member States. During the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2022, he served as an advisor to the Office of the Government, where he focused on preparing European Council meetings and energy policy. From 2010 to 2016, he headed the EC Representation in the Czech Republic, where his responsibilities included preparing recommendations for the Czech Republic's economic policy, the Czech Republic's participation in the InvestEU program, and cooperation with the European Investment Bank. In 2016, the President of the Chamber of Commerce awarded him the Golden Mercury Medal for his active support of the business environment in the Czech Republic. Previously, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, including as Deputy Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to NATO in Brussels, at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague, and at the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the United Nations in New York.
